The former fire station is located at the number 13th, in the « rue du Lavoir ».

Following the decree of 8 June 1852, the Minister of the Interior asked certain municipalities to nominate candidates from the National Guard for the fire brigade, knowing that some of them were already firemen in the National Guard.

It was Louis Bodin-Marteau, mayor of Limeray from 1840 to 1870, that created the corps. He proposed second lieutenant Louis Guéritte, a bootmaker, as a candidate. He became the officer commanding the subdivision of the Limeray fire brigade. Later, the town hall bought the fire engine, hoses, canvas buckets and uniforms from its own funds.

The fire station, originally located in the current library, was moved in 1984, rue du lavoir, before being closed in 2014, the firefighters being grouped on Amboise.
